Suzanne C. Winch, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, David M. Winch; her parents, Bernice Pollard and Joseph Brady; and her brothers, James V. Percento and Michael J. Brady. She leaves behind to hold her close in love and memory, her children, Robert J. (Rebecca Welch) Kuiper II, Shelli R. Kuiper, and Joseph A. Kuiper; stepchildren, Micheal J. Winch, Janet M. McBarnes, Martin J. Winch, Douglas J. (Lisa) Winch, and Kenneth C. Winch; brothers, Leslie G. “Butch” Vandewoestyne, Kenneth B. Vandewoestyne, and Kevin B. (Therese) Vandewoestyne; sister, Cheryl L. Percento; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends.

Suzanne spent the majority of her life in the Kalamazoo, Michigan, area. She lived in England and Colorado for short periods of time as well, and following her husband’s retirement, they relocated to Taos, New Mexico, a place they both loved and felt deeply connected to, until his passing in 2013. She thereafter returned home to Kalamazoo where most of her family resides. She spent the remainder of her life holding her family close, surrounded by the things and people she loved.

Suzanne was a truly remarkable woman who devoted her life to helping others through volunteer work and political activism, at one point running for County Commissioner of Kalamazoo. She deeply treasured her family and among her great loves were interior design, quilting and sewing, reading, Native American art, her little dog, Ellie, and her roses. A very special light left this world with her, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service is planned to follow at a later date. Any desired memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity, Ministry for Community of Kalamazoo, United Way, or the charity of your choosing.
