STOREY, SUSAN A.
Of Kalamazoo Passed away November 23, 2010 at Rose Arbor Hospice. Susan A. Storey, daughter of Paul and Rita Boyden was born in Jackson, MI on December 21, 1941. She attended Jackson High School, Jackson Junior College and Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She married Donald Storey, her high school sweetheart, in 1960. Mrs. Storey was a certified Medical Assistant and was employed by Dr. Marilyn Terranella and Parkside Internal Medicine for nearly twenty years. After leaving the office setting, she became an instructor at KVCC in the Medical Assisting Technology Program, where she taught Medical Terminology/Anatomy and Clinical Procedures. Her students meant the world to her, and she was always happy to know how their careers and lives were proceeding. Sue was a member of the Centerpoint Church of Kalamazoo, and had been active in the Kalamazoo Chapter of Medical Assistants, the Michigan Society of Medical Assistants and the American Association of Medical Assistants. She was also involved in the Kalamazoo County Project Linus, where she helped produce quilts and blankets for children in crisis. Sue was an avid reader and was seldom without a book in her hands. Mrs. Storey was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Don, in 2000. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Donald and Wendy Storey of Ann Arbor, David and Kristen Storey of Ann Arbor and Kelly and Scott Rayman of Kalamazoo, and seven grandchildren, Erin Terpstra and Christopher Storey; Zachary and Kaleigh Storey; and Casie, Adam and Marc Rayman. According to the wishes of the deceased, cremation has already taken place. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 4 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. with the Rev. Dar VanderWal officiating.
