SMITH, Steven C. Of Pingree Grove, IL Formerly of Kalamazoo Passed away suddenly December 1, 2006 in Illinois. Steve was born February 9, 1958 in Kalamazoo to Richard E. and Nancy Jones Smith. He was an honor graduate of Parchment High School in 1976 where he participated in football and baseball. He also attended Western Michigan University. On November 17, 1978 Steve married the love of his life, the former Sharon K. Vroegindewey. Steve was involved in several business adventures and was a licensed pilot. For many years he coached and refereed soccer and enjoyed scuba diving in his travels with his wife Sharon. He attended Airline Dispatch School in Dallas, TX and for the last six years has been employed with Atlantic Coast Airlines and most recently United Airlines. Steve is survived by his wife Sharon; sons, Eric Smith of Las Vegas, NV, Bradley Smith and Kurtis Smith both of Kalamazoo. All who knew Steve will sadly miss his charming and fun personality. In addition, Steve is survived by his parents, Richard and Nancy Smith; sisters, Sharon Richard Santman of Kalamazoo, Sue Smith of Richland. Steve?s loving family also includes many brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. A service to celebrate Steve?s life will be held 2:00 o?clock Thursday in the Chapel at Third Reformed Church, 2345 N. 10th Street with Rev. Dr. Jeff Porte officiating. Friends may meet the family Wednesday evening from 5-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Foundation for Hearing Research or Alcoholics Anonymous.
