Passed away Thursday evening, October 5, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Steven was born May 20, 1957 in Kalamazoo the son of Donald and Selma (Weiss) McKay. Steve worked at Parker Hannifin as a machinist, he also served in the United States Army for 3 years. Steve enjoyed wood carving, drawing, gardening, and spending time with his kids and grandchildren. His favorite food was seafood of any kind, and his favorite color was blue. He was amazing at cheering people up when they were down, and he overall was a bright light in everyone’s life. He was caring, sweet, and understanding. He most of all loved the Lord, and leading people into the Lord’s footsteps.
Steve is survived by his wife Penny; children, Andy (Crystal) McKay, Heidi (Michael) Fletcher; 5 grandchildren, Anthony, Jazmine, and Jaydon Fletcher, Jack and Leon McKay; his mother, Selma McKay; sisters, Diana (James) Kendrick, Marion Marchetti; his niece Jenny; nephews, Jimmy and Josh; as well as several great-nieces and nephews; and his closest friends, Mark Beyer, Hank Bostic, and Kevin Horn. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Donald McKay. A memorial service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at 2:00pm, October 28 at the Great Lakes Chapel, 29530 M-43, Paw Paw, MI 49079.
