Kalamazoo, MI Died Saturday morning April 28, 2007. Stephen was born December 19, 1957 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Gerald and Kathleen Veenhuis Hicks. Years ago, he served Honorably with the U.S. Air Force. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with the Kalamazoo Public Schools for 14 years. On August 18, 1990, he was united in marriage to Helen J. Yoder Hicks who survives. Also surviving, 3 children, Elizabeth Jamie Miles and Matthew Amber Hicks all of Kalamazoo, and Katherine Hicks at home; a grandson, Carson Hicks; his parents, Gerald Arlene Hicks and Kathleen Hicks all of Grand Rapids; a brother, Scott Christine Hicks of Alto, MI; a sister, Kerrie Jeffrey Wilkerson of Jenison, MI; an uncle; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held 11 o'clock Tuesday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Private burial will take place at a later date.
