Portage Mrs. Thomsen passed away Saturday afternoon, June 30, 2007 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born October 26, 1925 in Crosby, Minnesota, one of three children to Clyde and Joyce Fleener Brooks. Shirley was employed by Eckrich for 29 years until her retirement. Shirley was a charter member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Portage. On October 19, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lyle Thomsen in Kalamazoo, who preceded her in death on July 30, 1983. Surviving are her son, Clyde fiancée Linda Scholten Thomsen of Portage; four grandchildren, Lisa, Kyle and Eric Scholten, and Stacy Dave Thomas; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Rylee, and Ella; one brother, Hollis Duane Brooks of Idaho; and one sister, Cora Campbell of Three Rivers. Services for Mrs. Thomsen will be at 11:30 AM on Tuesday tomorrow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park Chapel, 3941 S. Westnedge Avenue, with Rev. Barry T. Petrucci officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Monday today at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Heritage Hills Apartments.
