Rose, Shirley Ann
of Galesburg, Michigan Passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Borgess Hospital. Age 79 years. Shirley Ann Kuertz was born in Springdale, OH on August 31, 1933, the daughter of the late Richard and Mary Kolman Kuertz. She was married to Ray Donald Rose in 1957; he survives her. Shirley worked for the Stewart and Clarke Furniture Company in Kalamazoo, retiring after over 20 years of service. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She volunteered for the American Red Cross and as a dispatcher for Galesburg-Charleston Township Ambulance Service, where she also served as an EMT. She was a Den Mother for the Girl Scouts and served on its board. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing the piano and was a member of the "Dirty Dozen" motorcycle club. Surviving are five children, Stephen Margaret Rose of Grand Rapids, Charles Allen Rose of Ohio, Lisa Rick Dando of Comstock, Sheri Geren of Marshall and Donna Matt Bentley of Ypsilanti; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Darlene Kuertz; two sisters, A.Kathryn Bagby and Sylvia Tom Moore; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Robert E. Bagby. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway, where funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 2012. Bishop Kevin Staples will officiate. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Memorials may be given to Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan, 601 W. Maple St., Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
