Shirley J. Root

ROOT, Mrs. Shirley J. Kalamazoo, MI Died Thursday evening February 1, 2007. Shirley was born November 20, 1930 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a daughter of R.Z. and Lorena Herrington Reardon. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was a member of the Kalamazoo Missionary Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Mildred VanAntwerp. On May 20, 1950, she was united in marriage to Richard D. Root, Sr. who survives. Also surviving, 3 children, Richard Teresa Root, Jr. of Kalamazoo, Steven Joyce Root of Kalamazoo, and Cynthia Gregory DeVries of Comstock; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marguerite Struben of Otsego and Dorothy Gene Watson of Doster, MI; 2 brothers, Wayne JoAnn Reardon of Plainwell and Robert Iline Reardon of Portage; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 1 o?clock Tuesday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8pm Monday. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Michigan Diabetes Association or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
