ROOF, Shirley M.
of Greencastle, IN Passed away October 16, 2007 at The Garden Villa Skilled Nursing Home in Bedford, IN. She was born January 31, 1932 in Fremont, OH to the late Merlin and Carlie Folis Siler. She was united in marriage to Roger Roof on June 18, 1955 in Ann Arbor, MI. Shirley graduated from Dundee High School as class valedictorian and went on to receive her Bachelor?s Degree in General Studies and Master?s Degree in Education, both from the University of Michigan. She was an avid reader and was a member of the Tuesday Reading Circle for 20 years. She also loved the competition of being a Duplicate Bridge player. Shirley made it a lifelong habit of corresponding with family and friends in all ways, such as sending letters, greeting cards and the like. Surviving Shirley are her husband, Roger Roof, M.D.; children, Ryan Heidi Roof of Climax, MI, Bradley Lori Roof of Climax, and Gordon Mely Roof of Midland, MI; grandsons, Christopher, Nicholas, David and Michael; brother, Harold Siler; many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her sister-in-law, Shirley Siler. Visitation will be Friday, October 19th, from 2-4:00PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek Street, Galesburg. Funeral services will be held at the Galesburg Chapel on Saturday, October 20th at 1:00PM, Rev. Louis Mahue, officiating. Interment will follow at Roof Cemetery, Climax, MI. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced, at the Putnam County Public Library, Greencastle, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Shirley?s name to, Shirley Roof Memorial Fund, Putnam County Public Library, 103 E.
