Of Portage, Michigan Shirley passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Rose Arbor Residence. She was born June 1, 1937, in Prairie Ronde Township, the daughter of Ordley and Viola Granger Blanchard and has been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident. For many years she was employed as a seamstress and embroidery with Ihling Bros. Company. Shirley was a former member of the Eagles Lodge; she also loved to cook and work in her flower gardens. On December 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to Earl L. Hodges, Sr. who survives. Also surviving are her children, Ralph Linda Bloomfield, Jr. of Mattawan, Kenneth Linda Hodges of Kalamazoo, Earl Debbie Hodges, Jr. of Lawton and Chris Rick Geer of Galesburg; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; by her first husband, Ralph Bloomfield, Sr.; by her daughter, Cindy Hodges and by all of her siblings. In accordance with Shirley's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services. Memorials in Shirley's memory may be directed to Hospice Care of SW Michigan.
