FULLER, Shirley Z.
of Portage Shirley passed away peacefully, at her home, Sunday, February 6, 2011 surrounded by her family and longtime friend Margaret Mosher. She was born Shirley Wilson on May 4, 1929 in Highland Park , Michigan. Her parents were Harry and Mildred Black Zahrn. Growing up in the Detroit area, she moved to Battle Creek just before her senior year of high school. She graduated from Lakeview High School where she met Corliss "Corky" Fuller whom she later married.
Shirley enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom for eighteen years and later worked as a cashier at Family Foods, Harding's and D&W, retiring in 2009.
Surviving Shirley are her children and their spouses, Cindy and Bernie Mein, Doug and Mary Fuller, Betsy and Peter Loza, and David "Charlie" and Renee Fuller. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Brent Nancy Mein, Katie Kyle Overheul, Gretchen Loza Williams, David Loza, Amanda Fuller, James Fuller, and Gery Emily Brookman Fuller, and seven great-grandchildren, Lauren, Allyson and Jocelyn Mein, Kelly and Ryan Overheul, Heidi Williams and Harley Renee Fuller. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Corey Fuller.
The family will greet friends, Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. A memorial service will be held Friday at 10am at Portage United Church of Christ, 2731 West Milham Road, Portage. The family requests that, rather than flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 811 W. Evergreen Ave., Chicago IL 60642.
