Diekman, Shirley J. Loofboro
of Richland, Michigan Passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the age of 88. She was born in Orangeville, MI on June 30, 1925, the daughter of the late Charles Frank and Mae Lucy Bradshaw Zimmerman. She was a former member of Temple Baptist Church. She worked for the James River Corporation, retiring after 35 years of service. Shirley loved to play cards with her friends, bowling, knitting crocheting and snowmobiling. She was married to Wynan W. Loofboro in 1945; he preceded her in death in 1991. She then married Henry F. Diekman in 1991; he preceded her in death in 2000. Shirley is survived by a daughter and son, Sandra J. Owen DeRyder of Richland and Larry J. Judith Loofboro of Richland; two step-sons, Fred A. Dee Diekman of Grandville and Douglas H. Diekman of Grandville; five grandchildren, Kimberly Phillip, Timothy Roxie, Lars, Laura A. Vince and Kevin; nine great-grandchildren, Jenni Eric, Tony Martha, Randi Shane, Chase, Sydney, Logan, Hannah, Cooper and Gemma; four great-great-grandchildren, Therin, Alannah, Ireland and Jamison; many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Bill Zimmerman. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Shirley's caregivers, Lisa, Robert and Kelly, who provided her with outstanding care and compassion. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013. Pastor Brian Bunkh will officiate with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery in Orangeville. Memorials may be given to Reverence Hospice or Kairos Dwelling.
