Shirley A. Cook passed away peacefully on February 2, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 26, 1938, in Plainwell, MI to the late Leon and Ethel (Sweeney) Barrett. Shirley worked as a gauge keeper for National Water Lift for over 25 years. She married Donald Cook on August 30, 1973 and together they shared 25 years of marriage until his death in 1998. Shirley enjoyed shopping, fishing, arts and crafts, and the occasional trip to the casino.

She is survived by her children, Dawn (Don) Dean, Vickie (Ken) Lewis, Beckie Rocha, Desiree Roberson, Rodney (Annie) Rocha; step-children, Angie (Doug) Santee, Steve Cook, Denny (Mary) Cook, Perry Cook; 24 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister, Betty McNees. Preceding Shirley in death were her husband, Donald; and brother in law, Jack McNees.

A Memorial Gathering will take place Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 1 to 4 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services 3926 S. 9th St. Kalamazoo, MI 49009. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Hospital, in memory of Shirley Cook.
