CHURCHILL, Shirley
Kalamazoo Shirley Evelyn Churchill of Tender Care West, Kalamazoo departed this life on the evening of April 23, 2010 at Bronson Hospital. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Churchill on August 20, 2002. Born in Success, Arkansas on May 12, 1933, the daughter of the late Clyde and Flora York Whitesell. She moved to the Kalamazoo area in the early 1950's with her mother and 3 siblings and was a lifelong resident. While she worked for a period of time in the food service area at Western Michigan University, she spent the majority of her life as a homemaker providing love and guidance to her 3 children. She enjoyed genealogy and pursued the many little threads involving the family history. Crossword puzzles and poetry were also a passion. She leaves three children: Craig Mann, Kathy Mann and Kenneth Churchill II, all of Kalamazoo, a half brother, Richard C. Whitesell of Woonsocket, RI; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was the sister to the late Francis Pat Latta of Casa Grande, Arizona and Norma Selbee and John Whitesell of Scott, MI. Her funeral will be held Thursday at 3:00 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with burial in Mount Ever Rest Memorial Park South.
