THOMPSON, Sharon A.
Of Comstock Sharon passed away Saturday afternoon, November 28, 2009 at Borgess Medical Center. She was born August 19, 1945 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Benjamin and Loraine Stacey Martin. On Augusts 20, 1971, Sharon was united in marriage to James Thompson. She was employed by Beach Products in Kalamazoo for 15 years until her retirement. She enjoyed arranging cook-outs with friends and family, listening to country music, reading, bowling, and chatting online. Surviving are her husband of 38 years, James Thompson; mother, Loraine Martin; three children, Frances Thompson, Thomas Coffey, and John Deb Coffey; two special grandchildren, Jonnie Coffey and Misty Hanes; two brothers, Stacey Deb Martin and Stuart Martin; one sister, Sandy Russ Kay; and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her father, Benjamin Martin. Funeral services for Sharon will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway, with Rev. John Vick officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Comstock. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to West Michigan Cancer Center or American Lung Association.
