Sharon C. ''Sharie'' Nikitas

NIKITAS, Sharon C. ?Sharie? Portage Went to be with the Lord, Wednesday afternoon, April 4, 2007, at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Sharie was born on October 3, 1942 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Robert J and D. Clotele Schoonmaker Sanders. On June 20, 1964, she was united in marriage to Nicholas Nikitas in Kalamazoo. She joined her husband as owner/manager of their first restaurant, The Park Café in Kalamazoo and their second restaurant, Nicole?s Patio Restaurant in Portage. After her husband?s retirement, she became a waitress at Russ? Restaurant, on West Main St.; where she enjoyed her customers for 20 years. After Russ? closed, she worked at Cracker Barrel, on 9th Street, until she became ill. Preceding her in death are her husband Nicholas on November 13, 2005; and her brother James Sanders. Surviving is her daughter, Nikki Vaughn Gerber; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. Memorial services for Sharie will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 14, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave, with Rev. Darwin Vander Wal officiating. Private interment will be in Portage Central Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence or Third Reformed Church.
