Formerly of Galesburg and Vicksburg Passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Borgess Hospital. Age 45. Scott was born in Battle Creek, MI on February 29, 1968, the son of Alfred D. and Barbara M. Hostetler Madden. He was a graduate of Galesburg Augusta High School. He attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Michigan State University Bachelor's, and Western Michigan University Master's. For more than 20 years, he loved teaching and studying environmental science as a Science Teacher at Vicksburg High School, North Hampton Public Schools and Athol-Royalston Regional School. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, skiing, gardening and trout fishing. He was happiest floating down a river in his canoe or kayak or hiking through the woods. He loved sports, especially baseball. He is survived by his parents, Alfred D. Madden and Barbara M. Madden; two sons, Keegan and Logan Madden, both of Amherst, Massachusetts; two step-daughters, Amanda Clark of Kalamazoo and Chelsea Clark of Grand Rapids; mother of the children, Sandra Madden of Massachusetts; one sister, Kimberly Rex Eckelbecker of Portage; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with the family from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Galesburg United Methodist Church, 111 W. Battle Creek St., Galesburg, MI 49053. At 3:30 p.m., Pastor Len Schoenherr will officiate a short service celebrating Scott's life. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations for an education fund for Scott's sons to the family.
