Passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at the age of 93. Sara was born July 11, 1924 in Kalamazoo to the late John and Winnie (Ver Meulen) Schreuder. Sara was united in marriage to Richard Van Maaren on October 12, 1951 for 65 loving years together. She was in the first graduating class of Kalamazoo Christian High School. She was a longtime member of Heritage Christian Reformed Church. She loved to spend time with family and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles & reading. Sara is survived by her children, Richard "Rick" (Jane) Van Maaren and their children, John (Allison), Dan, Marisa (Jake) Mentink, Elisa and Rosanna; Brenda (Charles) Bartocci and their children, Charlie (Tiffany), Philip (Sara), Gregory (Cassie) and Eric; and Joan (Tim) Baylor and their children, Rachel (Dave) Stephens, Sarah, Hannah (Jacob) Davis and Jacob; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, William "Bill", Harm, James, Joe and Jeanette Schreuder. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 10-11:00 am at Heritage Christian Reformed Church, 2857 S. 11th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Memorials may be directed to Heritage Christian Reformed Church.
