Zimmerman, Sandra L.
of Portage, Michigan Passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Age 77. She was born in Three Rivers on August 29, 1935, the daughter of the late Edwin and Cherrie Carr Gearhart. Sandra loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed caring for her children, grandchildren and nieces. She enjoyed flower gardening, doing crossword puzzles, knitting, crocheting, and arts and crafts. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James L. Zimmerman Sr.; sons, James L. Zimmerman Jr. of Portage and Edwin J. Cathy Zimmerman of Portage; four grandchildren, Nicole Sean Devine of Portage, Danielle Zimmerman of Portage, Scott Zimmerman of Portage and Jeff Becky Zimmerman of Lake Orion, MI; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Butler of Kalamazoo and Joan Alan Peterson of Vicksburg; one brother, John Sondra Gearhart of Three Rivers; and many special nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., where the friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Scott Burdick will officiate. Burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Reverence Hospice or the Humane Society of Kalamazoo.
