TOWNSEND, Sandra Lee
Of Kalamazoo, MI Died October 25, 2009 at her residence with her family by her side. Sandy was born November 16, 1946 in Kalamazoo, a daughter of Donald and Joyce DeYoung Santman. She graduated from Loy Norrix High School after which she obtained her nursing degree from K.V.C.C. She was employed for over 19 years at Borgess Medical Center. Sandy was a life time member of Bethany Reformed Church. She was married to Timothy Townsend in 1986 and he preceded her in death in 2002. She was also preceded by her father Donald Santman in1989. Surviving are 4 children, David E. Luttrell, Jr. Kathryn Lossman of Kalamazoo, Carlton Nicholas Yolanda Luttrell of Kalamazoo, Laura Hassan-Adams of Gainesville, FL and Timika Miller of Ames, IA; 7 grandchildren, Carlton N. Luttrell II, Daijah, Dashawna, Frank, Torian, Katonya and Kanecia; Mother, Joyce Santman; 3 brothers, Dave Joan Santman of Otsego, Mark Linda Santman and Gregory Santman, all of Kalamazoo; mother-in-law Vera J. Townsend and father-in-law Alfred Tanya Townsend, all of Chicago; brothers-in-law Peter Townsend of Kalamazoo, Kirkland Townsend and Asa Karol Townsend, all of Chicago; uncle Nelson Santman of Florida and aunt Dorothy Potgiesser of Kalamazoo; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend Ruth Ann Ampey of Kalamazoo. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Friday at Bethany Reformed Church, 1833 S. Burdick St. with the Rev. Fritz Kruithof and Tim Meisling officiating.
