Sandy died on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born on September 2, 1936 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Ernest and Margene (Lowis) Smith. On April 27, 1957, Sandy was married to James P. Schultz. She was employed by The Upjohn Co. at Brooke Lodge for 18 years until her retirement. Sandy was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek and Corinthian Chapter #123, Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Jim Schultz; their three children, Jamie Schultz (Keith Beveridge) of Edina, MN, Judy Griffin (Jon) of Plainwell and Bill Schultz (Deb) of Greenwood, MN; seven grandchildren, Alyson and Grace Beveridge, Colleen, Sean and Liam Griffin, and Will and Maddie Schultz; and dear family member, Susan Wilber of Erie, PA. Preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Robert Smith. Friends may visit with her family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Monday, Dec. 7, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street and from 2-3 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek, 111 Capital Ave. NE. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday at the church. Rev. Patricia Weatherwax will officiate. Interment will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be directed to Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation or First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek.
