Kalamazoo, MI Died Monday evening May 31, 2010. Sandra was born March 8, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan a daughter of Doyle and Agnes Short. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of her life and was employed with Olsten Healthcare before retiring. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence G. Rook, Jr. on January 8, 2009; and her sister, Emily Kleeman. Sandra is survived by 2 children, Robert Bessler of Kalamazoo and Michael and his wife, Cristina Bessler of Kennewick, WA; a grandson, Jason Lee; 10 step children, LeRoy and Jeri Staudinger of Plainwell, Linda and Jeff Green of Portage, Larry and Carol Rook of Plainwell, Robert and Anne Rook of Kalamazoo, Sandy and Mike Staudinger of Addison, Betty and Ron Cooper of Kalamazoo, John and Bev Rook of Kalamazoo, Cathy and Steve Hickok of Mattawan, Sherry and Jeff Tennis of Mattawan, and Janet Rook of Kalamazoo; 4 grandchildren, Lacey, Amanda, Crystal, and Andrea; a great-grandson, Jordan; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside services will be held 11 o'clock Thursday, June 10th in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center, Michigan Heart Fund, or the Kalamazoo Humane Society.
