of Kalamazoo, Michigan Went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the age of 79. He was born in Kalamazoo on December 8, 1933, the son of the late Edward and Wilmina Rozeveld Van Dyke. He worked on the family farm during his teen years and then for Fisher Body as a salvage repairman, retiring after 27 years of service. He was a member of First Reformed Church of Portage, where he served as a church Elder and Deacon. He enjoyed volunteering with the Alamo Twp. 4-H and later with Appalachian Reach Out. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elsie Kuiper Van Dyke; children, Rick Marcia Van Dyke of Kalamazoo and Joyce Don Terpstra of Vicksburg; son-in-law, Doug Sue Bos of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Craig Elizabeth Terpstra, Curt Kristen Terpstra, Lori Joel Slager, Eric Beth Van Dyke, Shelley Kirk De Leeuw, Matthew Kay Bos and Samantha Bos; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Caleb and Olivia Terpstra; Madeline, Marah and Jared Slager; Heidi, Lincoln and Cooper Van Dyke; Drake, Jonah and Grant De Leeuw; and Thomas and Alayna Bos; sister, Geneieve Vander Weele; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Slager and Kay Kuiper; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Bos; and brothers and sisters, Thomas Nina Van Dyke, Laura Charles Stapert, Henrietta Ralph Timmerman, Eva Hughes, Christine Anthony Vander Weele, Everard Van Dyke; and brother-in-law, Robert Vander Weele. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013 at the First Reformed Church of Portage, 7905 S. Westnedge Ave., where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Rev. Art Wiers will officiate. Private family interment will take place later in Alamo Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Reformed Church of Portage or a charity of one's choice.
