Of Portage Ruthe passed away Friday afternoon, February 17, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was born April 16, 1926 in New Philadelphia, OH, the daughter of Louis E. "Jess" and Opal E. Guthrie Malindzak. She was united in marriage to Raymond Kalis in 1950 in Wyandotte, MI for a loving 58 years. Surviving Ruthe are her son, Jess Kathy Kalis; five grandchildren, Jessica Mike Dawson, Emily Kalis, Ashlee Kalis, Nicole Nick Hurtekant and Laura Adkins; and two great-grandchildren, Isabelle Dawson and Elijah Hurtekant. Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother and one sister. At the request of Ruthe to her family, no services or visitation will be scheduled. Arrangements are by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave. Memorial contributions may be directed, in Ruthe's name, to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
