Ruthann Whitney, of Kalamazoo, passed away quietly at her home, surrounded by family on December 29, 2024, at 77 years old. Ruthann was born in Kalamazoo on January 24, 1947, to the late Frederick E. and Ruth M. (Sly) Meisling.
Ruthann loved playing bingo, spending time with her grandchildren, laughing and joking around, her morning coffee, as well as playing scrabble with her children and making unforgettable memories with those she loved. She proudly retired from Pfizer after over 20 years of being a dedicated employee. She was also a former employee of Tower Automotive, where she worked beside her husband, Tom Whitney.
Ruthann was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Whitney; her daughter, Wendy Brown (Robert); her parents, Ruth and Fred Meisling; and her siblings, Sandra Meisling, Sharon Cripe (Johnny), and Christine Freed (Randy).
She is survived by her children, Debra Reynolds (John) of Scotts, Lisa Moore (Wayne) of Climax, Larry Reynolds of Kalamazoo, Stephanie Fisher of Comstock, Thomas Whitney II (Kim) of South Carolina, and Micheal Whitney (Penny) of Kalamazoo; her sister, Sylvia Smith (Gerry) of Kalamazoo; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close cousins.
Ruthann was an Angel to know here on earth, and she will be missed tremendously by everyone who had the opportunity to be surrounded by her comforting presence.
Please join us for her Celebration of Life on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 1:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007, where visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00pm. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South, at 2:00pm.
