WOLSEY, Ruth S.
Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away Saturday evening, April 19, 2008 at Tendercare of Kalamazoo. She was born November 4, 1905 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Fred and Mary Jennie Fowler Saunders. Ruth was a graduate of Englewood High School and attended Monmouth College IL, University of Chicago, and Northwestern University. She taught elementary school in Wendell, Idaho. On June 5, 1930, Ruth was united in marriage to J. Herbert Wolsey in Twin Falls, Idaho. They lived in Calgary, Alberta; Chicago, IL; Ft. Wayne, IN; Gary, IN; Omaha, NE; Kankakee, IL; and moved to Kalamazoo in the fall of 1956. She was an over 50 year member of Bethany Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday school. Ruth also worked part-time at Gilmore's Department Store for about 10 years. Surviving are 1 daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Arnold Smith of Benton Harbor; 3 grandchildren, Lorraine, Matthew, and Douglas; and a special great-granddaughter, Nikita. Preceding her in death were her husband, J. Herbert Wolsey, on February 18, 1986; her parents; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Lois Jane and Arthur Bailey; and aunt Florence Nichols. Funeral services for Mrs. Wolsey will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park Chapel, 3941 S. Westnedge Ave., with Rev. Robert Terwilliger officiating.
