Ruth Powers

POWERS, Mrs. Ruth Portage, MI Died Sunday evening May 20, 2007. Ruth accepted her calling from her Savior and returned to be with all those who have gone before including her husband ?Bud?. She was born February 17, 1923 in Owsley, Kentucky a daughter of David and Fannie Mays Brown. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of her life and was employed with the James River Corporation for 20 years, retiring in 1975. She was a former member of Calvary Bible Church and Temple Baptist Church. She recently attended Lake Center Bible Church. Her family will miss her greatly as she was a major part of all their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William ?Bud? N. Powers on September 8, 2002; and 2 brothers, Clifton and Alfred Brown. She is survived by 3 children, Carol Vennes of Paw Paw, Julie James Brown of Enterprise, AL, and William David Deborah Powers of Vicksburg; 9 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline John Stevens of Connersville, IN; a brother, Junior Charlene Brown of Connersville, IN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 10:30 Thursday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8pm Wednesday. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer?s Association.
