formerly of Portage, Michigan Ruth A. Phillips went to be with her Lord on Friday, December 12, 2008. She was born July 29, 1926, the daughter of Henry and Nellie Johnson. She grew up in the Kalamazoo area, graduating from Kalamazoo Central High School and then following many years of service, retiring from the Upjohn Company in 1988. Ruth leaves behind a legacy of love and faith and was a true inspiration to all who knew her. She will greatly be missed by her children, Gary Judy Phillips and Randy Vicki Phillips, all of Schoolcraft, Michigan, Stanley Toy Phillips of Kathleen Georgia, and Becky Donald Paul of Madison, Wisconsin, eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, brother, Henry Johnson, sister, Deana Beeke, nieces, nephews and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Kenneth, her parents and four siblings. Family and friends gathered to honor Ruth on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the Houston Lake Baptist Church in Perry, Georgia. On Friday, December 19, 2008 friends and family will be received at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Avenue from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 11 AM in the chapel of Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Memorial Bible Program @ www.gideons.org , Ruth's favored charity.
