PETERSON, Ruth E.
Texas Township Loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2007 in Kalamazoo. Ruth was born November 17, 1936 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Cecil and Marie Morris Glenn and had lived in the Kalamazoo area for many years. For over 8 years, she owned and operated Essentially Dolls and Bears. Ruth was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and volunteered at the Kalamazoo Regional Psychiatric Hospital in the chapel for services and in Braille Bible distribution. On August 18, 1955 she married Richard Peterson, her husband of 52 years, who survives. Together, they loved traveling, sight seeing, the out of doors and off road ?Jeeping?. Ruth also loved to knit and was a photographer, who had her own dark room. She is also survived by her children, Mark Angela Peterson of Mattawan and Dawn Keith Buckmaster of Texas Township; six grandchildren, Cameron Thompson, Alicia Peterson, Troy Peterson, Corey Thompson, Adam Buckmaster and Ryan Buckmaster; three sisters; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., with Pastor Louis W. Grother officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
