Ruth D. Osterhouse

Age 91, she went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Ruth was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on November 14, 1932, the daughter of the late Vaughn and Mildred (Gay) Mowan. 

On September 17, 1981, she was united in marriage to David A. Osterhouse, who survives. Ruth is also survived by her children, Lewis (Brandy) Smith, Karey Smith, Kimberly (Lawrence) Hickman, Beth Lint and Kristen (Andrew) Golden; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Mowan. 

Ruth graduated from Bloomingdale High School and spent many years as a church secretary and organist at Kalamazoo Missionary Church. She loved singing hymns and playing the organ and cards. Ruth was also especially fond of her dogs. 

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Kalamazoo Missionary Church, 5045 East Michigan Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49048 with Pastor Joel Schwendinger officiating. Visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM. Private interment will be at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park – South. Memorial contributions in Ruth’s memory may be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
