MITCHELL, Ruth E.
Of Galesburg Ruth passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 2, 2010 at Tendercare of Westwood. She was born May 22, 1927 in Bronson, Michigan the daughter of Maurice and Marian Taylor Honeywell. Ruth grew up in Bronson and was a 1945 graduate of Bronson High School. She moved to Galesburg in 1961 and later became a member of Green Meadow Bible Baptist Church in Kalamazoo. Ruth was also employed by Hardings Friendly Market in Galesburg for 25 years until her retirement. She enjoyed camping with her family, cooking, babysitting the grandchildren, and playing cards. On October 22, 1983, she was united in marriage to Anzeweary "Anzie" Mitchell. Surviving are her five children, Barbara Cox of Moody, TX, Frank Mary Cox of Ypsilanti, Dolores Bob Brierly of Kalamazoo, Cheryl Brian Osterling of Augusta, and Betty Shammas of Kalamazoo; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; step-son, Terry Joyce Mitchell of Augusta; aunt, Mable Honeywell of Bronson; sister, Janean Marshall Rubley of Bronson; brother-in-law, Glen Wells of Fremont, IN, former spouse, Albert Cox of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Anzie; her parents, one brother, Harold Honeywell; and one sister, Luellen Wells. Funeral services for Ruth will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Green Meadow Bible Baptist Church, 6914 E. ML Avenue, with Pastor Marvin R. Followell officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Monday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek Street. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Green Meadow Bible Baptist Church, Alzheimer's Association, or American Heart Association.
