Ruth A. Linders, age 80 of Scotts, was promoted to Glory on Friday, February 7, 2025. She was born in Alma, Michigan, the daughter of Bernard “Vern” and Julia (Metek) Sova. Ruth was a 1962 graduate of Alma High School and received both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Western Michigan University. Her career was spent in the Portage Public Schools where she was a first-grade teacher and reading consultant at Woodland Elementary. On December 16, 1967, she was united in marriage to Jack Linders who preceded her in death in 2007. Ruth was a passionate and glowing soul who loved children and educating them. For the last 25 years, she was a snowbird traveling to Venice, Florida in the winter, where she enjoyed the sunshine and good friends. She was a long-time member of Lakeland Reformed Church.
She is survived by a son, Timm (Martina) Linders, of Downers Grove, IL. She was the beloved “grammie” to her 2 grandchildren: Kari and Bridget. She is also survived by her sisters: Mary Zafiropulos and LaVaun (Ed) Sheldrake; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister Joanne Bovee.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 15th at Lakeland Reformed Church, 10442 Sprinkle Rd. The Linders family will welcome friends and loved ones to remember and celebrate Ruth from 5:00-7:00 pm on Friday, February 14th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lakeland Reformed Church or Generous Hands, Inc.
