Passed away after a courageous fight against pancreatic cancer on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at his home with family. Russell was born July 14, 1956 in Green Bay, WI the son of Richard and Hilda (Bosse) Peters. Russ spent his career as a Design Engineer Consultant until his retirement in 2016. He enjoyed playing golf, cribbage, poker, horseshoes, and his bowling league. He loved to fish with his wife, Stella and their yearly fishing trip to South Manistique Lake in the Upper Peninsula. But, most important to him was his family and grandchildren.
Russell is survived by his wife of 34 years, Stella (Andrzejewski), two children by his marriage Matthew (Janiene) McCartney; Heather (Brian) Barnes; grandchildren Aidan, Drew, Violet, Izabella, Amelia, Emma, and Landyn; sisters and brother Dottie White, Milt Peters, and Jan (Mark) Beyer; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sister Richard, Allen “Bud”, Chuck and Kathy “Teenie” Laes.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may meet the family from 1:00-3:00pm Saturday, April 15 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. A brief time of prayer will be at 2:00pm. A “celebration of life” gathering and light reception will be held from 4:00-6:00pm Saturday, April 15 at Continental Lanes, Back Alley Saloon, 3645 Vanrick Dr., Kalamazoo, MI 49001
