Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 31, 2008. Russ was born January 17, 1928, in Mattawan, the son of Miles and Nora Dutton Crippen and has been a lifelong area resident. He was employed for 31 years with Eaton Corp. and 7 years with Stryker Corp. Russ is a charter member of the Berean Baptist Church. On December 4, 1948, he was united in marriage to the former Arlene G. Smith who survives. Also surviving are his children, Louise Crippen of Kalamazoo, Edde Dawn Crippen of Vicksburg and Terri Kenneth Garrett of Kalamazoo; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ola Bailey, Margaret John Milbeck and Alta Roger Boven; several nieces and nephews. Russ was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Beverly Liles and Robert Crippen. There will be no visitation. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday November 3 at West Oshtemo Cemetery with Pastor Will Davis officiating. Memorials in Russ's memory may be directed to Berean Baptist Church.
