ECKLER, Ruby Of Kalamazoo Passed away Sunday afternoon, July 29, 2007. Ruby was born October 18, 1924 in Columbus, KY the daughter of Bert and Minnie Frizzell. She worked for several years at Western Michigan University and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ruby was an Avid NASCAR fan and Tony Stewart was her favorite driver. She enjoyed Elvis and John Wayne movies and was a collector of memorabilia for both. Ruby especially loved her family and friends. In January of 1944 she was united in marriage to her husband Robert Brown who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Ike Brown; 2 grandsons, Michael and Herman; and a brother, Thomas. Surviving are 4 daughters, Nancy Ken Watson, Wendy Mike Kelly, Pamela McMakin, Christi Patterson; 5 grandchildren, Laura, Karen, Becky, Bill, and Ben; 5 great-grandchildren, Haden, Logan, Marlee, Robert, and Danielle; 4 brothers and sisters, Florence, Lee, Richard, Loren; in-laws, Barbara Riegel, Leighton Brown; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held Sunday afternoon from 2-4pm in the Community Room of the Crosstown Apartments, 550 W. Crosstown Parkway. Private interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Croyden Avenue School.
