HARRIS, Rozwell G. "Rusty"
Of Comstock Rusty passed away Saturday afternoon, September 18, 2010 at his home with his family by his side. He was born October 14, 1924 in Kalamazoo, the son of Leo and Nellie Forker Harris. Rusty was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp serving during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. On February 22, 1947, he was united in marriage to Addis E. Birchfield. Rusty was employed by James River Co. for 44 years until his retirement. He also served 34 years on the Comstock Fire Department and was a life member of Comstock VFW Post #6252. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Addis Harris; their four children, Linda Richard Bishop of Scotts, Jeanne Stan Wheeler of Comstock, Patricia William Lovely of Otsego and Richard Harris of Orlando, FL; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and two sons, Robert L. Harris and Thomas J. Harris. Funeral services for Rusty will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway. Interment with military and fire department honors will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Great Lakes Hospice, Comstock Fire Fighters Association, or Calvary Bible Church East.
