Rose Ella Mentor (Root) of Kalamazoo, MI died peacefully at her home at Hope Woods Senior Apartments on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. Rose was born February 27, 1946, in Charlotte, MI to Cecil and Mary Anne Root.
Rose loved music and Elvis Presley was her favorite growing up. She graduated from Otsego High School in 1964. Rose Turned down a scholarship to Arizona State University in interior design. She married Bill Russell of Plainwell in 1966. Son Craig was born in 1969. Rose worked as a bank teller until joining the Upjohn Company first working on the line stuffing cotton in Unicap Vitamin bottles, later joining the Payroll Taxes department in the late 1970's until her retirement in 1998. She later joined the staff at Curtis Trailer Center.
She met Husband Mike and the two were married in 1983. Their son, Aaron, was born in 1984.
Rose was a big sports fan, cheering on Craig at little League games, later her beloved Chicago White Sox and Bears, and with Husband Mike the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Rose was preceded in death by her son, Aaron; her parents, Cecil and Mary Anne; Brother, Raymond; and Sister, Charlene. She is survived by Husband Mike; Son Craig; Stepson Errol; Sister Gwen; Sister Carol; and Grand children Annika, Keegan, Jaylynn, Hunter, and Malcolm.
There will not be a public service. Per her wishes Rose was cremated.
