HUGHSON, Ronald G., Sr.
Of Kalamazoo Died March 23, 2011 at his residence with his family by his side. Ron was born July 14, 1940 in Kalamazoo, a son of Samuel and Florence Primley Hughson, Sr. and was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo. Prior to his retirement in 2003, he was employed for 44 plus years at Greenbay Packaging Kalamazoo Container after which he enjoyed his retirement by working part time D&S Auto/Kalamazoo Shop. Ron also loved his family and enjoyed doing yard work and gardening. He enjoyed the local short track racing, especially the people involved and watching the races. Ron was preceded in death by his wife Marcia on February 12, 2008; by his parents and brothers Robert, Duane, Sam and Donald Hughson and by 3 sisters, Florence Luce, Beverly Barnea and Joyce Pinell. Surviving are 3 children, Susan Larry Ward of Kalamazoo, Ronald Jan Hughson, Jr. of Comstock and Cheryl Jerry Andrews of Parchment; 7 grandchildren, Sarah, Jerry Lee Kelli, Amanda, Ron III, Dannica, Becky and Kendra; 5 great-grandchildren, Dominique, Shanga, Kristen, Daniel and Hailey; a sister Shelva Marcinkowski; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with the Rev. Buff Coe officiating. Interment will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may meet the family on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
