Of Portage Passed away Wednesday evening September 19, 2007. Ron was born October 31, 1934 in Kalamazoo the son of Delbert and Marguerite Fairbanks Hughes. On November 15, 1952 he was united in marriage to the former Margaret Phillips who survives. Also surviving are 3 children, Mikel Hughes, Laurie Chris Benniks, Karen Bogen all of Portage; 3 grandchildren, James Christina Bogen of Vicksburg, Jacob and Lucas Bogen of Portage; 3 great-grandchildren, Seth, Tylor, Elaine Bogen of Vicksburg; a sister and brother, Donna Oswalt, Bruce Hughes both of Kalamazoo; and many nieces and nephews. Ron worked at Farm Bureau from 1950-1961 and the Kalamazoo County Road Commission from 1961-1996. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. Ron worked hard and was an outside person. He loved driving and seeing battle fields while on vacations. So much to tell about this honest, fair and loving person. His wishes were that you remember him as you knew him. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services.
