Roger Gerald Peekstok, age 95, of Kalamazoo passed away October 20, 2024. He was born May 29, 1929, in Kalamazoo to the late Gerrit and Anna (Meyer) Peekstok.
Roger served honorably in the Navy for four years during the Korean War and worked in several capacities within the pickle business for over 30 years. He was active in his faith. Roger served as an elder at Battle Creek Christian Reformed Church and taught Sunday School there as well as Kambly School in Battle Creek. He also served with Anchor House Ministries in Florida. Roger was a member of the Lions Club and enjoyed traveling, cruises, and fishing.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Sue Peekstok; sister-in-law, Doris Peekstok; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bob (Jeanne) Brandes and Ron (Kay) DeRuiter.
He is survived by wife of 72 years, Doris (DeRuiter) Peekstok; daughters, Sheryl (Ron) VanderRoest and Deborah (Jim) Codde; 12 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Jack (Karla) Peekstok; sister-in-law, Carol DeRuiter; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Monday, October 28 at 11:00am at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where family will greet friends from 10:00am until the time of the service. Light refreshments will be served immediately following. Roger will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
