BOOMERSHINE, Roger E.
Of Galesburg, MI Roger Edwin Boomershine was born January 4, 1928, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Reuben and Viola Albaugh Boomershine and went home to be with his Lord on October, 9, 2011, in Kalamazoo. He received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Western Michigan University. On January 29, 1950, he was united in marriage to Yuvon Lou Milthaler Boomershine in Grand Rapids, MI. Roger was a school teacher for 34 years, serving 5 years at Kent County Schools then 29 years at Galesburg-Augusta Schools retiring in 1984. Following retirement, he and Yuvon owned and operated Galesburg Retirement Home. They also owned Edie Adam�s Cut & Curl in Kalamazoo, Urbandale and Battle Creek from 1969 until 1980. Roger was a longtime member of Prairie Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Yuvon; their children, Roy Carla Boomershine of Galesburg, Jerrie Lynn Homan of Marystown, Newfoundland, Diane Clifford Lipscomb of Climax, Marjorie Hirth of Jackson, Nancy Michael Mueller of Galesburg, Robert Lori Boomershine of Galesburg, Ronald Julie Boomershine of Schoolcraft and Barbara Scott Belland of Galesburg; 32 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 12th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 West Battle Creek St. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at Prairie Baptist Church 11210 East PQ Ave with his son-in-law, Pastor Lynn Homan and Pastor Tom Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest South Memorial Park. Memorials in Roger's memory may be directed to Prairie Baptist Church.
