COLE, Mr. Rodney Lee "Rod"
Kalamazoo, MI September 24, 1941 - July 7, 2012 Rodney Lee Cole, 70, of Comstock, passed away suddenly on Saturday July 7, 2012 at his home. Rod was born September 24, 1941 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Donald F. and Verlina J. Bickle Cole. Rod graduated from Comstock High School in 1959 and was a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident. For many years, he was a parts manager at several heavy-duty truck parts dealerships. On November 29, 1963 he was united in marriage to Nancy Lee Bill for 26 years. During the Vietnam War, he served with the U.S. Army and received honorable discharge. After he left the military, he worked for Miller Lumber Company as a truck driver and dispatcher. He was later employed by Aero-Motive Manufacturing before retiring. Throughout his life, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and many outdoor activities. Rod was preceded in death by his father, Donald F. Cole; two brothers, Donald Cole, Jr. and Craig Cole. He is survived by his mother Verlina J. Cole of Kalamazoo; two children Michael L. Cole of Kalamazoo and Traci A. Miller Cole of Scotts, MI; three grandchildren, Michaela Cole, Meaghan and Amanda Miller; a brother, Terry Cole of Shelbyville, MI; a sister, Cheryl James Werner of Kalamazoo; a sister-in-law, Onnaleah Cole of Three Rivers; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are being made by Langeland Family Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mount Ever-Rest Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to the American Red Cross.
