Robert Joseph Zakrzewski

Robert Joseph Zakrzewski, age 81, from Jones, Michigan, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, Indiana.

Robert was born on March 20, 1942, to the late Edward Steven and Mary Marie (Delater) Zakrzewski. Robert was a graduate of Bristol High School and then served in the United States Air Force. He retired from Owens-Illinois Manufacture in Constantine, Michigan. 

Robert enjoyed motorcycle, bowling, RV camping, and trailing. 

He loved westerns and history, and he also enjoyed watching the tall ships.

Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Buchanan, whom he married on March 4, 2020, in Kalamazoo, Michigan; sons, Pete and Joe Zakrzewski; step-children, Paul Potter and Lisa Lammott; AJ Hartman; and one grand-daughter, Samantha. Robert is also survived by his sister, Joanna (Victor) Herrmann; niece and nephew, Laura and Matthew, and ex-wife, Mary Lou Wilson. 

Robert was preceded by his parents and ex-wife, Sharon; and step-daughter, Kay Hartman.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 pm Monday, February 19, 2024, at Langeland Family Funeral Home, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009. Friends may gather from 5:00 pm until the time of service. 

Burial service will held in May with Military Honors in Indiana. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for the Newberg Township Fire Station.
