Robert T. Ransbottom, age 95 of Martin, died on February 19, 2024. He was born October 19, 1928, in Constantine, Michigan, one of seven children of Lloyd and Gertrude (Sutherland) Ransbottom. Robert served in the U.S Army during the Korean Conflict. For 39 years, he worked in maintenance at RockTen/Maximar Paper Mill, from 1952-1993. He married Bonnie Closs on April 18, 1952, in Angola, Indiana, and spent nearly 71 years together, until her death. Robert enjoyed woodworking and built several beautiful pieces of furniture. The family spent a lot of time together. They camped in the Upper Peninsula from 1968-2011. Bonnie and Robert did everything together, including motorcycle rides in the countryside. He was a hardworking family man. He is survived by his daughter, Teri (Robert) Schiedel; his sons: Daniel (Harriett) Ransbottom and Randi Ransbottom; his grandchildren: Matthew (Jennifer) Schiedel, Angela (Jason) Daniels, Nicole (William) Whittemore, Lisa (Adam) Butler, Jenny (fiancé Rex Owens) Cooper, Ben Ransbottom and numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters: Lloyd Ransbottom, Jr., MaryAnne Root, Georgia Shook, Wesley Ransbottom, Walter Ransbottom, and Bill Ransbottom, and the love of his life, Bonnie Ransbottom.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery with military honors will be held. Please share memories of Robert with his family at www.langelands.com
