PIPER, Mr. Robert W. Live Oak, FL Formerly of Kalamazoo Died Monday morning January 22, 2007 in Chiefland, Florida. Robert was born August 23, 1917 in Augusta, Michigan a son of Forest and Alice Frost Piper. During WW II, he served with the U.S. Army. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life before moving to Florida 30 years ago. He was employed with the Eaton Corporation for 30 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mildred; a brother, Francis Piper; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild. On October 23, 1976, he was united in marriage to Georgia A. Goodwin Piper who survives. Also surviving, 4 children, Barbara Barnes and Phyllis Frazier both of Battle Creek, Roberta Issac Thurman of Hudson, FL, and Michael Wanetta Piper of Bellevue, MI; 3 step children; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Forest Piper, Jr. of Augusta, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 12 noon Monday in Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Greater Kalamazoo.
