Robert William Patterson, Sr., passed away Monday morning, August 15, 2016 at the age of 60. He was born on March 13, 1956, in Newbury, MI a son of Earl and Geraldine Glass. His parents died when he was a child and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, the late Dorothy and George Patterson. Robert graduated from Lew Wallace High School in Gary, Indiana. He was a big fan of sports and enjoyed bowling and fishing. His family was very special to him and spending time with his grandchildren was his greatest joy. Robert was employed at HECO as an electrical mechanic for 25 years. On February 6, 1980, Robert married the former Connie Nicely, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Shirley Patterson of Bedford, IN, Mary (Jeremy) Kempker of Grand Rapids, MI and Robert W. (Nikki) Patterson, Jr. of Washington; six grandchildren, Madyson, Rebecca, Keegan, Jadyn, Lilyann and Brealyn; a sister, Carol (Ben) Shepard; a brother, George (Lori) Patterson, Jr.; three sisters-in-law, Betty (De) Davenport, Martha (Al) Wheeler and Stella Vincill; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Mary) Nicely and Philip Nicely; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23rd from 6 to 8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Services will be held 11am Wednesday, August 24th at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Dyke, officiating. Private inurnment will be held later at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Oakwood Community Center.
