Robert H. ''Steamboat'' Padgett, Sr

PADGETT, Mr. Robert H. ?Steamboat?, Sr. Kalamazoo, MI Died Tuesday afternoon April 17, 2007. Robert was born August 18, 1936 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of George and Vera Tyler Padgett. During the Korean Conflict, he served with the U.S. Navy. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with Georgia Pacific for 18 years, retiring in 1980. He was also a member of the D.A.V. Chapter #6 and the Kalamazoo Masonic Lodge #513. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Richard and James; and 3 sisters, Beverly, Carol, and Sandy. He is survived by 4 children, Debbra Smith of Galesburg, Robert H. Padgett, Jr. of Tucson, AZ, Linda Blades of Richland, and James Padgett of Kalamazoo; 4 grandchildren, Amber Curt VanAvery, Colin Maxson, Brandi Blades, and Joshua Padgett; 3 great-grandchildren, Austin, Allison, and Carter; a sister, Patricia Lloyd Stinnett of Kalamazoo; his companion, Jackie Welch of Portage; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 10 o?clock Monday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 504 S. Westnedge Ave. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held 2:30 Monday in Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be directed to the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Program.
