MULDER, Robert P. Sr. "Bob"
of Portage, Michigan Passed away February 10, 2009 at Kairos Dwelling. He was born June 21, 1922 in Kalamazoo, to the late Paul and Lena VanDam Mulder. Bob was united in marriage on June 21, 1941, to the former Grace Gruizinga who survives. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War, where he worked in the engine room aboard an LST in the United States Navy. He was employed at The Upjohn Company and retired as a supervisor in the fermentation department after 30 years. He enjoyed family camping trips, fishing, gardening, nature and wildlife. As a dedicated family man, he was involved with his son as a Boy Scout leader, leading at Camp Rota-Kiwan and attending a National Jamboree. He was involved with his oldest daughter in a wildflower 4-H program and with his younger daughter in a horse 4-H program. His interests included coin collecting, HAM radio, photography, reading and woodworking. He was a member of the Texas Corners Bible Church of Kalamazoo. He had a great love for his God, his country, family and friends and his church. Also surviving Bob are his children, Robert Sharon Mulder Jr. of Hastings, Kay Dennis Marchand of Plainwell and Paula Mulder-Stovall of Comstock; 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding him in death were 2 sisters, Jane Potts and Bernice Potts. Family will greet friends on Sunday from 2-5:00pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Funeral services will take place on Monday at 12:00 noon, from Texas Corners Bible Church, 7780 S. 8th St., Pastor David Thompson, officiating. Burial will take place on Tuesday, 1:00pm at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church, Kairos Dwelling or to Hospice of SW Michigan. Please see
