MEDEMA Robert "Bob"
Of Kalamazoo Robert Eugene Medema, age 74, was tragically killed Saturday, August 11, 2012 at his residence in Kalamazoo. Bob was born October 15, 1937, in Kalamazoo, the son of Joseph and Henrietta Meninga Medema, and has been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident. Bob's passion in his life of buying and selling antiques began at an early age; he eventually opened The Emporium in 1968 and was just celebrating his 44th year of business. Throughout the years the store has brought in hundreds of customers from all over the country. He was an old fashioned business owner who truly cared about his customers, many coming into the store just to be able to enjoy his unique personality and admiring his quality antique inventory. Bob was a well-known, kind and compassionate individual who was loved by the Kalamazoo community and beyond. He attended Twin Lakes Reformed Church. Surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Mary Medema of Schoolcraft, several cousins, special friends, Bob Cunningham, Dave and Nancy Cretsinger, Eric Lee, Doug and Celeste DenRuyter, Steve Sattem, James Cavender, Eric and Corky Pratt, Mike and Darlene Wagner, Joshua Davis and a host of other wonderful friends. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday, August 16th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street.
