ROBERT MARVIN

Robert Douglas Marvin, the son of Frank and Helen Marvin, was born April 12, 1943 on a farm in Howard City, MI and died August 13, 2008 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of 65 years. Bob spent his youth in the Howard City and Cedar Springs area. On October 12, 1960 Bob was inducted in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged from active service on April 7, 1964 but still served his country in the Naval Reserve until October 11, 1966. On February 5, 1977 he was united in marriage to Janet Bean at Sunshine Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids, MI. Bob and Jan moved to Oakland, IA in 2001 where Bob was the operations manager at Oakland Foods. Bob enjoyed anything to do with electronics. He was known for his special woodworking abilities, loved traveling in his R.V., fishing, NASCAR, and animals. He is preceded in death by his father Frank, his brother Steve, and his dog Misty. He is survived by his wife Jan of Oakland; his mother Helen; his children: Rob and wife Sarie, Scott, Tom and wife Ericka, Kelly and husband Bob; his sister Kathy; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and his dog Sami. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave; where funeral services will be held 10:30am Wednesday. Interment with full military honors will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
